László Károly graduated in Altaic Studies (Linguistics), University of Szeged, Department of Altaic Studies in 2002 and defended hia PhD in 2008. He has been the chair and professor of the Department of Linguistics and Philology at Uppsala University since 2016. Earlier he worked in the Department of Altaic Studies at University of Szeged, in Frankfurt and Mainz between 2005 and 2016.
His main fields of studies are Turkic philology, Old ad and Middle Turkic texts, etymological and morphological studies of Altaic languages.
